It will receive $5 million in federal stimulus funds to help with its
renovation of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the funds
will help pay for a planned renovation of the tower. The renovations
will likely start in 2010.The hall dates to 1753. The Constitution and
the Declaration of Independence were signed there. Independence Hall is
a key part of the historic sites on Independence Mall in Philadelphia,
across the street from the Liberty Bell Center. The tower, which was
reconstructed in 1828, has been damaged by the weather and now leaks.
Renovations will fix deteriorated features of the tower, reinforce the
cladding, install new lighting and reinforce the clock faces. During
the renovation, the entire Independence Hall will be surrounded by
